This iiLab project started with a late night text from a client. A photo came through with the question “Have you ever built one of these?”. The answer, no. Next question,  “Can you build one for me?” The answer, yes.

Excavating that first scoop of soil from his backyard to start building a natural pool was a little nerve-wracking, but we love a good challenge! We can happily report that the client and his family have now been enjoying their personal watering hole for several years now!

This ’Natural Pool’ uses plants in the regeneration zone to filter the water rather than using conventional methods like chlorine. And when this pool overflows from a storm, it is no different that a pond overflowing. No chemicals enter our streams or landscape. If you enjoy swimming in lakes and ponds, then you’ll love swimming in your own natural pool. Modern amenities like lights, a sun deck,  a wading area for small children can all be added to this eco-friendly gathering spot.

Since we undertook this project, we’ve been charged with building traditional pools as well, and now offer both natural and traditional pool design and installation. The only limitation to these aqua-spaces is our collective imaginations - a project can span from something simple like a small soaking pond to a multi-space outdoor entertainment area centering a 75’ lap pool constructed from poured concrete!

Do you have a pool challenge for us?
